They are so cute...wish I could have one but live in the city limits. Used to raise, and milk them for 4-H, growing-up in Ohio. They are so sweet at that age!
I'm so happy...finally have a broody hen!!! 1 of my Barred Rocks and I gave her yesterdays eggs to go ahead and sit on, hopefully I'll have babies in 21 days. Fixed her a special nest up with her eggs and she has stayed on them for the last 24 hours. Keeping my fingers crossed! I love the...
Here's what I did. It's a simple carport with chicken wire and we used wire ties to fasten the chicken wire on the sides. We made a PVC frame and door on the front, and put chicken wire on it too.

My coop and run stay pretty dry most of the time except around the edges, but I have standing water in it today...my poor girls have had to hitch their skirts up!
They have been getting more abundant just in the last 10 yrs in the area, it has become a common sight, and people don't even get excited about it much here anymore. It has been nothing to see a momma and daddy flying with fledglings between Cairo and Tallahassee, Fl., over the plantation...
Just letting folks know, to look out for Bald Eagles in the Cairo Area. Had one circling the house this afternoon, checking out my chickens. My roo was doing his job and looking out for his girls, he'd make noises and the girls would run over to the privacy fence under the bushes.
