Yes really the hen would kill it or leave it to die that is nature. then do you have the heart to sit and watch it suffer? I don't like having to put a animal down but I don't let it suffer no matter how much of a animal person I am. If you cant or won't do it ask a friend if they can put it out...
if they look mostly dry and fluffy yes you can move them to the brooder area and give them water and food. you could always try chicken multivitamins for all of them just to be safe.
to be fair I have taken chicks out of the incubator and checked them over if they worried me and then put them back in then again I have always had issue with humid and temp in my bator anyway so adjusted myself to it. I do hope it's just trying to give a scare and nothing is really wrong with...
splayed leg is just that they look like they are doing the splits and cant get their feet under them. I hope I'm wrong and she is just laying like that to freak ppl out
I would wait it out. but idk something about the leg don't look right or maybe it's just how she is laying. I'm sure more knowlegable ppl will be here to help soon.
I know hoe you feel about a week and 2 days ago I hatched out 16 chick I had to cull one because I tried everything I could with the symtoms I noticed it was not til it was to late I started to notice wry neck and by then it was kinder to put it down. But I think if there is a issue with this...
plenty of ppl have had no issues with mesh it just boils down to preferance really. if you can see a vet right away and she does have splayed legs you could make a brace out of band aids. I know there are loads of threads on the issue.
I have to agree with hyroler to a extant on this. I personally would not hatch on a mesh floor as chicks could get legs caught in it. also if this keeps up look up splayed leg.
