It would depend on what kind of cedar, if the aromatic kind, I'd not put them in the coop.
The aromatic kind could be used in the run, in moderation.
Dry pine shavings on floor don't freeze ;)
but I use a poop board with PDZ, so poopsicles!
That moisture is why I don't do DL in my coop, too humid here already and in winter it can freeze.
@lazy gardener does DL in coop in cold country with success.
