Sorry this is so late. I guess this is the conclusion of the thread: Floppy and Snothead (EE who died) were the only males. I’ve got 6 pullets. :)
Floppy:
Whitey:
Others, Stinkeye in back right:
On the contrary, I think it couldn’t be more perfect. :gig
Previous roo’s have included Richard, Moby, and Big Red (aka Willy). Spot the running joke. :D
None of mine are crowing! Not even Floppy.
:barnie No comment. If I were ever to hatch it would be under a broody! I don’t have room for babies anyway.
:smack
I will try and get updated pictures soon, possibly this weekend. Long story short, everyone is a definite pullet except Floppy and possibly Stinkeye. :)
That’s what I’m thinking. Floppy has the biggest and reddest comb/wattles and is much heavier than the rest. Stinkeye is the next most suspicious.
Interestingly, the welsummer has the second biggest comb and wattles but they are the most pale of all of them.
I need to stop taking pictures under the canopy. The weird lighting throws everything off, sorry.
Anyway, the babies are 6 weeks old today! Any new guesses on gender?
I am very hesitant to go off of comb color.. after catching and handling them all in the heat, everyone’s face got very red...
Late start this morning, sorry. Here’s the three buffs. They weren’t thrilled about being caught lol.
Lil nub/Applehead
Stinkeye/Stoner/Nippy
It seemed less noticeable this morning. I guess it’s just a droopy eyed bird and it looked worse in the heat?
Floppy
Stinkeye vs. Floppy
Nah, I don’t think a snake would’ve missed. It’s very possible she’s losing her vision— or always had problems and I didn’t notice.
I’ll thoroughly check for potential respiratory issues in the morning though.
I just scoured through my photos. It’s hard to tell because I could only tell them apart recently, but from what I can see her eyes looked normal until very recently, possibly only today. I didn’t see them watering at all today, I just kept noticing the weird snake-eye/drunk look she was giving...
Here’s the three buff orps. I really need to get standardized photos, the angles and lighting make it very hard to accurately judge them. I’m also seriously wondering if something is “wrong” with two of them.
This is lil Nub. She had a stuck egg tooth that broke off, hence the name. She’s very...
I will try and get a photo of the buff orps tonight, it’s too hard when they’re all running around.
I can definitely tell them apart now though, you’re gonna agree that Floppy is a boy lol.
I secretly want that too.. shh. I’m positive that Floppy (buff orp) is a roo, possibly Nippy too (another buff orp). I REALLY like Floppy, soo.. I think the rest are definite girls. :fl
