    Welcome to BYC! Yeah, skip the DE. Look at the label on the 'garden dust' and see what the active ingredients are, many have permethrin which will work.......but if you have mites, you need to treat the whole coop which is much easier using liquid permethrin.

    Not here, there's always been a nominal fee, but it's doubled in the past couple years.

    Yep, and why I just chuck it all in the curby anymore. I already pay for landfill, not going to pay again at the 'recycling center'. Pisses me off, but understand the dynamics of why it has changed.

    I doubt the guy driving the truck and operating the dumper arm, early in the morning when it's pitch dark outside in the dead of winter, is going to know that one paper grocery bag amongst 90gals of other stuff has a dead bird in it. ;) Tho I imagine there might be lights and cameras to monitor...

    Sick birds get euthanized(broomstick CD), they and ones that 'just die' get tossed into woods, 15 rural acres. My birds are confined in a pretty secure run so never had a predator kill, if I did any remains would go into the woods too. Chicks and birds that have died in the dead of winter...
