We lived on the closer side to Santa Ana. We've had plenty of those canopy things ripped up by winds over there. Here the wind is nasty as well, but the rain was most welcome. We haven't had any for ages.

106F, 41C here. Very toasty as well. Swamp coolers are helping the chickens and the upcoming storm seems to be cooling things down too.
