Can I sit the whole thermometer in my incubator or will that screw it up? I don't have a good vent hole that goes all the way through for it to work in.
I have a bunch of eggs due at the end of the month!
I ended up getting the thermometer that @aart was talking about, it just arrived today.
Looking pretty great so far.
I stuck it in my NR for a few minutes and it jumped to 99.5 almost immediately and stayed steady. So that's a good sign...
Oh, do you just set it in the incubator?
How did you calibrate it? I like the wide measuring range. Could you do the boiling water calibration method with it I'm guessing?
Ok, that's what I do for my other digital ones.
What kind of thermometers do you use?
Just trying to find a newer accurate one to use. My old Walmart ones are failing badly. I'm incubating a lot of valuable eggs this year so I'd like to get whatever the best reliable thermometer is.
Hi all, just popping in to ask a Govee question. I'm looking into getting one and I know a lot of you guys use them. What one is best, and how do you calibrate them? Are they pretty accurate?
Thanks!
I would probably just super gently, while holding the goo between the chick and the shell, remove the egg shell. I would be worried that the weight of the shell could make the navel worse.
Hey, anyone have any idea how many goose eggs will fit in the NR without the turner? I know they won't fit in the turner, but I'm planning on hatching some goslings this spring and I was curious. :)
Thanks! That's helpful to know. I get those weird pattern things on my eggs from the shelf liner in both incubators. It doesn't seem to affect anything.
I put clear plastic hooks on mine. It helps a lot. One on each side. That way I can hook my fingers under and lift the lid off enough to get my hand under the top. I wouldn't lift it by just the hooks though.
Ok, thanks! I'll try it today. Any tips for fitting in a thermometer anywhere? I think it would mess with the turner, but I'm not sure. Loving the incubator so far though.
Hey, don't want to interrupt anything, lol. But does anyone know if I can use the turner with bobwhite quail eggs? I've been turning by hand because I like having thermometers in there and I'm not sure how to put the thermometers in with the turner. I'm leaving tomorrow for a few days though and...
