Your incubator might be off by a degree or so if you're putting your Govee on the inside ring...
Test the govee on the outside, as close to the dome as you can place it.
:goodpost: just watch that it doesn't get bunched up and jammed. It happened to me, fortunately I noticed and it didn't damage the turner or the motor. I still feel safer with the shelf liner than without.
You should put antiseptic ointment on that bleeding yolk sac and wrap him in a dry paper towel and set him upright in a narrow cup or dish so that he doesn't do any more damage to himself.
If it were me, and had a chick struggling after the zip was completed, I'd just pop the top off for it. It...
To me, it looks like a fresh absorbed yolk sack. It should get smaller as the hours pass and if it's no longer bleeding and you apply antiseptic, it should be fine.
No, just leave it alone. It can hatch like this if it doesn't lose too much blood. There's nothing you can do about it if it has. Wait 24 hours minimum to assist after an external pip.
Let us know what the outcome is.
I'd like to get one of these, I find the original turner much too rough with quail eggs.
I have 40 in now which I'm hand turning. :th
Hey! I'm incubating my first batch of shipped eggs. I plan to hand turn throughout, but would like to set them upright for the first few days.
Any tips on making this possible?
I'm incubating bantam eggs and quail. I thought of cartons, but my quail egg cartons are made of plastic and I...
When this happens, I just hold the shell, and grab the membrane (that's attached to the chick) as close to the shell as I can and just pull it away from the shell and let it fall away from the chick on it's own.
It seems to happen more often than it doesn't, to me.
That membrane in the last...
I agree, each has it's own quirks. I'm running 2 NR360's right now, one *full* of goose and duck eggs with the turner removed, and one full of OEGB and quail eggs in the turner. I find the humidity spikes higher quicker in the newer one with the quail and OEGB eggs and requires much less water...
I use shelf liner in mine under the regular turner and it actually works better, it gives some cushion and the eggs roll smoother, especially quail eggs.
Is this custom turner designed so that you are supposed to assemble it yourself using provided clips and super glue?
