I’ve used it a few times now. In the winter time at one point I had a lot of trouble keeping the humidity stable and only had 1 chick hatch. I decided to try dry hatching like a lot of my friends are doing. I’ve had much more success with that. I am currently incubating eggs, and it is so...
Well I just woke up. 5:30 am to crazy chirping so I go look. A chick just hatched. But the humidity is in the 30s again.. AFTER a chick hatched? Usually it goes up to 80 or so and it was like 35!
We have peeping and pipping!
I’m sitting on my couch and hear chirping. I run to the incubator - because who doesn’t keep it in their kitchen lol and there’s 2 pips and 1 egg rolling around!
Vents been open all the way because we are in lockdown.
I woke up this morning and it was in the 30s again. They are supposed to start hatching soon. Tonight is 21 days. I am afraid for how it’s going to go. I’m not sure if any will hatch now.
Ugh! What causes the humidity to suddenly drop? This happens here and there. I wake up or come home from work and it’s dropped 30%. I’m in lockdown and woke up and it was 35! Ugh
I hatched 5/7 bantam white polish 2 made it to lockdown and didn’t hatch.
5/11 Silkies They were shipped in from another state. (Chocolates in this pic were my eggs hatched in my daughters school.)
Yes, I focused on trying to get humidity to 65 but when they pipped at times it was like 80. I did mention twice I went to bed and woke up and it had lost like 30 to 40% humidity. Now I check it multiple times per day.
And I legit filled it with the full 22. Had anyone else ever hatched so many. Worried it will be cramped. Of course after I candle I'm guessing half will be duds because they were shipped, but well see.
This incubator wasnt easy to clean. even though it was plastic ai had difficulty cleaning in all the grooves in the water tray.
When I mean separate... like if I want to separate one hens chicks from another to see what they're coming out like, but in the same incubator... how can I do that so...
I just took all the chicks out and noticed the water has some green slimy stuff in it. Is that normal?
Also, what's the best way to clean it? Especially the bottom. Thank you.
