Q is just about 18 weeks old. She has no carunkles. What gives? Shouldn't she have *something* by now?

Quote: Thanks.... Q and Stubbs (the b&w dog) have a very strange, loving relationship. She has loved the duck since Q was a tiny baby, and I misinterpreted her pushiness as prey drive. Once I started allowing them a little one-on-one time, I quickly realized Stubbs didn't want to eat Q, she...

My avian vet, who just recently found out I have an indoor duck, said "It'd probably be much happier outside...." He doesn't know my Q. She is a houseduck, and does not have a strong appreciation for the great outdoors..... What fun is sitting in the cold outside when you can be in the house...

WHAT is this thread doing clear back on page 7?!? SEVEN!!! I don't want to miss out on any 'scovy pics, so I'm shamelessly bumpin' this one back up to page one where it belongs. Here are some pics of Quackmire, doin what she does best..... being a house duck. She does an amazing parrot...

Quote: I know, "he" is most likely a "she". We've called Q a he for so long it's hard to get into the habit of calling him "she". lol The chi is a well-fed (fat) 8 pounds. So she's not very big at all. Q weighs just over 4 pounds and is about 11 weeks old. So yeah, we've all kinda figured...

Love everyones' pictures! KOTH, that duckling is adorable!! Quackmire took his first "flight" yesterday, up onto our ottoman, and when done preening, back down again..... I was ridiculously proud And he is considerate enough to share his duckbed with the chunky chihuahua in the evenings...

Quote: Nope, no idea if Q is boy/girl. We've always just kinda called "him" a he. Actually, from what I'm reading, he is a little on the small side, so it is very possible that he is really a she. I assume a gal will have less carunkling than a boy....

Lovin' the pics of everyons' scovies! I was pretty bummed to find out my Quackmire was a muscovy, but as I watch him grow, (in appearance, and personality) they are really starting to grow on me. This is him, now, almost 10 weeks old. I'm surprised he doesn't have the start of any carunkles...

Thanks keeper! I had no idea that Q would develop more white in time. His head was completely black/brown when he was fuzzy duckling, so all the little white splotches popping up as he feathers out were a surprise. Now I'm anxious to see what comes of him as an adult! So, you think he's a...

    Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Well, the popular opinion is that my "found and rescued" duck is a 'scovy, so I'll share some of his pics here! Under very close supervision, Quackmire Duck loves to give Stubbs dog a good rubdown..... (and Stubbs often gets dreamy eyed, and occasionally drifts off to sleep.....) But he...
