You mean an Olive Egger x Olive Egger to get offspring that are homozygous for blue eggs, but also pure for dark eggs?
Haven't seen such yet but it's my goal. I'm hoping it will turn out like an F1 olive egg but much darker and richer. Basically a really deep GREEN. Like Spinach.

Mine were a year old in September and they are still going strong. I was expecting them to quit and molt, but not yet. They have been super layers.
Aspen - Wow, how on Earth did that first girl end up looking so gamey? Mine have all hatched out looking like Ameraucana's. She's definitely got her daddy's coppering though. Ford's son does look a lot like him. Glad you are enjoying them. Thanks for the pics!

Beautiful, love the color!
Thanks, she like her mother did kept me guessing for a while. When my blue OE was a baby, the comb turned pink really early, like 3-4 weeks - so I assumed it was a cockerel. Then the chick grew, but the comb didn't, and by 8 weeks I knew she was a female...
Thanks Wynette, I love a good splash pattern and she's the last hatch from my rooster, Ford over my blue OE hen.
I also have this girl from Kathy. I sure hope she lays soon - I'm on pins and needles! She's 25 weeks.
And here she is giving my barnevelder rooster a complex about his size...

Ah, I see. Thank you.
I bet! I was hoping to get somemore eggs from ya later on next year. I just LOVE the OE hens. They're solid black like an Ameraucana, but they have bright sunlight/orange on their heads. SOOO gorgeous!!

Well, I still have the hens...
Fluffy puffy - Ruth is a member here on BYC. Ford was hatched from her stock.
It was a tough decision, but I really wanted to work with the barnevelders and didn't have the room to do both.
Wynette - why not just put the olive egger gals that are laying too dark in with the Ameraucana boy? Wouldn't that strengthen the blue egg gene and possibly get the egg color where you want it?
I have a splash olive egger - this was my rooster (he is a multiple generation olive egger from Ruth - don't have him anymore, had to make way for my barnevelders):
And the momma - a first generation olive egger:
Gave me:
This black guy was from one of my black olive egger hens - daddy...
