My olive Eggers are 5 1/2 months old. The waiting is killing me. Trying to figure out why my marans hasn't laid an egg since September is keeping me occupied but in the back of my mind I keep counting the weeks as they go by. Cmon, olives!
I'm happy to report that she got a good local home. I must say that I'm impressed with the size and disposition f the MPC olive Egger chicks, they are the tamest chicks I've had yet and they are big and plump.
The MPC Olives arrived this morning! Is this little lady blue or splash, you think? She's got a fluffy yellowish belly and grey to charcoal everywhere else.
Yeah, as someone who is temporarily borrowing an incubator (with extremely limited success so far with hatching, 3/29) someone who can't have a rooster to breed their own, and who doesn't have an excess of room to raise or house unneeded chickens, it was tempting.
So, I found 2 people who were...
Thought I'd let everyone know, Mypetchicken just updated their olive egger pullet availability, they've got 6 that can ship tomorrow. After shipping though they are about $20/each. I'm having trouble deciding if anyone in my area would buy the extras for such a price. My indecision might be your...
I only got those two, I was so hoping for a blue. Only three chicks hatched, three more eggs are still in the incubator, overdue. The third chick had different parentage, from a different breeder.
They are shipped eggs so I can only trust the breeder, but i was told the momma marans were blue/black/splash, or it was a Welsummer. I suspect Welsummer moms on these two, in my extremely limited experience.
Your fizzled gray layer is hilarious! What a cool little chicken. I live in Walla Walla, I get to MAKE wine for a living. Pretty rad. If you ever have any hatching eggs or young ones I'd love to have an olive layer in the flock, I'm not optimistic about my hatch coming up.
Is anyone here able to ship olive egger chicks? The batch of eggs I have in the incubator does not appear to be doing well. I live in Eastern Washington (state).
Zoikes, all this genetics stuff will make your head explode.
I've got 29 F1 and F2 OE eggs in the incubator right now, and I want to make sure that I know what I'll end up with, so I can give a disclaimer to the people who purchase any extra chicks I may have. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
