Is it just me, or have olive eggers really become popular in the last few months? It seems that everyone is hatching them for the NYD Hatch (including myself!!!!).
I tried to get olive eggers last year (I have a brinsea mini advanced (7 eggs max)), and got 2 OE roos last year. This year I'm...
Hola! Me encanta su granja. Que suerte tienes a vivir en un lugar tan hermoso! Mi sueno es caminar el camino de Santiago antes que yo muera, jaja. Bienvenido a byc!
Sphinx! Awesome eggs. I wish my OEs wouldn't have ALL been roosters! How rude of them!
Also, I just got a purebread Wheaten Ameraucana hen to put under my FBCM rooster! Olive Eggers here I come... at least when spring rolls around... haha.
Awesome eggs! They remind me of the little whopper eggs you can buy around Easter!
Wow! Talk about variety! That'll add some nice color to your basket! (This is me being jealous... )
I had a super hard time with my FBCM x Wheaten Ameracauna... Finally couldn't deny it with the curly greenish tail and beautiful coloring... :) Adopted him out today. :(
ok... i've looked through this thread but can't quite find my answer. I hatched an olive egger this year (FBCM crossed with a Wheaten Ameracauna) and it turned out to be a roo. In my flock, I have a wheaten ameracauna hen, a barnyard mix hen, and a FBCM hen. If I keep the Olive Egger and hatch...
They both look a lot more pullety than my 6 week chicks! I would say two pullets. And, the rule I go by when I can't tell is... "They're a hen til' they crow!"
Yours looks much more girly than mine do at the same age... here is a picture of mine this morning... The first is a FBCM/Wheaten Ameracauna mix, and the second two are pure FBCM... Sorry I wasn't more help...!
Aren't they cute!? Mine looked the exact same as the marans... almost. my OE was a little bit darker and didn't have quite the light white stomach...
I'm nervous though cause only one of my oOEs hatched out of the four i set. and i'm wondering if it is a boy... :( he still has a small pink...
Can you tell the sex of these Marans or Olive Eggers? https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/775693/gender-render-wheaten-marans-barnyard-mix-olive-egger-pic-heavy
Quick question. Would a black french copper marans crossed with a wheaten ameracauna produce a hen that is all black with a brown neck and chest? or does this shout rooster?
Here is a picture of the mystery sex chicken! It is a little bit larger than the rest at this age, and seems to stand a little more upright as well compared to the others. In the pictures, it is a little bit difficult to see the brown, but in all reality, it is pretty blended in. From far away...
Hi everyone! New to the thread. I hatched out 2 olive eggers (Wheaten Ameracauna x BCFM) for the Easter Hatch. I am trying to determine sex. They are now feathering in quite nicely with nearly black feathers with brown lacing... Any idea if they are hens or roos? Both have a single comb, but it...
