Ooo! I love Masie's coloring! My Olive Egger - Sammy - just went broody for the first time and hatched 5 out of 6 eggs I set under her. She's been a great mama. I had to take two away, though, as one had curly toes and when I put little 'shoes' on it to straighten them she kept trying to pull...
It's Olive Egger day here on BYC!! I got my first one, too - this is Sam:
And her little, khaki/olive pullet egg:
I think she is about 31 or 32 weeks. Ameraucana/ BCM cross.

What are the two group's temperments? I know my BR is the bossiest, but have never seen my PR peck at anyone. You might be better off in the BO/ RIR pen. Just my two cents, don't have that much experience.
Yes, I have. A few of them said the same thing - one of the best they have seen - but then I think they were mad because I can't have roosters so I can't breed her. I invited their roosters to come over for a tryst in the sun some day, but no takers yet.
Between her, my Olive Egger, two...
Thanks! My Marans didn't start till I believe 31 or 32 weeks (not sure exactly how old she was when we got her). The EE is two weeks older than the OE, and she still hasn't layed, either. Patience is a virtue, I guess!!
Sam. I am Sam. Sam I am. Do you like green eggs and ham?
I do like green eggs and ham!!
I know a lot of you use the BCM/ Ameraucana cross for olive eggers. My FBCM took FOREVER to lay. Should I expect the same of Sam? She is 22 weeks, I think.
Aren't they doing pretty much what the Japaneese did, then? They aren't breeding them back to Auracana stock and calling them Auracana's. They are calling them Olive Eggers - and most people on here always clairfy what mixes their OE's are.
I know what KFC stands for. What I am asking is what...

WHY on EARTH would you intentionally produce a tufted rumpless contaminated with commercial heavy breed genetics?
I'm sorry to be so frank in my question but this is without a doubt Unethical. How can you guarantee that that stock isn't going to end up in the collective gene pool...
I wish! I'm in the city and I'm not allowed to have a rooster. Now that I've gotten into chickens, it makes me want to move to the country so I can breed my own chickens - what fun!
Hello Olive Egger fans! I just got this little one today, and hopefully it is a pullett. She is supposed to be a Marans and Ameraucana cross:
What do you think she will look like? She has yellow feathered legs!
