    The Olive-Egger thread!

@The Moonshiner Genectics are really interesting to me, but are beyond my scope for now. I find it fascinating & from the little I have followed on the SOP BCM thread, they can be tricky & things can pop up that you never knew were buried in there :)

    The Olive-Egger thread!

@ScottandSam I got my OE from Meyers Hatchery. She’s a BCM/Ameracauna mix I believe. They have two different lines of OE & I got two of their other line(cream legbar/Welsummer) & one of the BCM/Ameracauna line. One died & the other left lays a brown egg(my luck). This is Vera that lays my...

Yes. I got three from Meyer. The black Copper Maran line one I received is very good size girl and is all black. The other two are from the cream legbar line and are a medium size. They all three are of egg laying age one ended up laying a brown egg,but that is always a chance with F1. One of...

    The Olive-Egger thread!

These are my Olive Eggers I got from Meyer hatchery. In the catalog it says they have two different lines so I'm sure I got two of the legbar/welsummer mix & one Marans/Americana mix. The black one has sparse feathering on her legs & is HUGE (almost Roo size) compared to the other two girls...

Here is Vera(it's what I came up with for verde lol) She is huge! She's 10 weeks old. Hoping she's not a Roo. Kinda hard to tell with no comb or wattles. I love her muffs. She's a cross of Maran & Ameracauna from Meyer Hatchery.

    The Olive-Egger thread!

@lablover I got three from Meyer. Two looked like chipmunks (about what a welsummer looks like as a chick) & one is black like my Maran. Very cute. I don't have any recent pics just from when they were days old. I'll try to nab some they are five weeks old now

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Nice!@Manningjw I have three Whiting True Blue chicks I just got last week & 3 OE from Meyer. I also bought three Maran chicks from a place that has bred them for super dark eggs. If one of them is a Roo I'll be trying my hand at making some darker Olive Eggers next season Super excited.
