    I believe, from what I can tell, that the self color is actually a result of the dusky gene. So ducks that are self black are also dusky, and that's what's removing the bib. That's what I've found in my research; haven't had a chance to test it myself yet.

    Color can be hard to tell as babies, especially with a possible white parent which means her other genetics aside from white are total unknowns. She kind of looks a bit chocolatey - possible, if Dad happens to be carrying the gene. Which he could be, if his white mom was chocolate.
