    I decided to combine both of my plans and rebuild a wider box but also only use one divider. So in the end I have two 12x18 boxes with a roof that slopes from 11 up to 20 inches.

    The tall side of the nesting box will be 21” high sloping down to 12” at the low end. I think I am going to recut a few places and add the extra width, though.

    I’m thinking if I do the two boxes instead of three, that’ll be adequate. Once I put bedding in, it’ll be filled up to the point where it’s back to being a 12x12 space anyway

    We plan to have 5 hens, MAYBE 6. Right now we have 3 hens and 4 chicks, and we plan to rehome two chicks when we move the other 5 over to this new coop.

I think the right thing to do is recut new side panels and make the box 1.5” bigger, I just wish I had thought about the stud before I used up my existing plywood reserves!
