Update: new Fish (goldfish and loach) have arrived. All new arrivals and existing older fish appear to be doing very well at this time.

Thank you. Yesterday I noticed that she does rub against rocks or whatever aquarium fixtures are in there, because she's searching for food thatsometimes drifts there when I feed her. Part of this is because she is visually impaired. That is probably why she has lost scales, and why...

I think the age thing is totally a matter of opinion. I respect the opinions of all but I'm happy with the opinions of the first people who answered my post, because i've talked to others since then who agree that age was and is probably a factor. I have no intention of turning this thread...

What did you use for the basin?

Could you post pictures of your outdoor tank when you get a chance, if you have any pictures? I've always wanted to do that for our fish, but just have never actually started it. Seriously considered it this past year.

Update: She has perked up a lot and seems quite cheerful! We are getting her new companions this weekend. I did a big ( 60%) water change and changed the filters also and gave her some more peas. My phone is acting wacky so I can't get a pic,but I will when possible. Thanks for the advice, all.

She lost a couple of scales when our other big goldfish was with her and I was sure he was responsible but this is more pronounced. I'll send a pic when I can.

The water does not need dechlorinated, it is well water, and has no chlorine. The last water change was about two weeks ago, about 25 - 30 per cent. I try to do a partial water change every week; usually I'm not as good with that as I'd like to be, but on an average, every two weeks, anyway...

Actually, what am I saying, she's more like seven or eight inches long, lol. She's a fancy goldfish and has a long flowy tail and pretty big around, also. I'm thinking maybe medium sized friends, yeah.
