Thanks! It’s been a while since I’ve had any garter snakes but they’ve always been my favorites to keep. In captivity they are a far-cry from their sometimes nervous and flighty wild ancestors. Another good thing about them is that they’ll eat just about anything and are easy to feed in some...

My pet-sitter accidentally left my day gecko’s tank door open while I was away. Judging by the gecko turds on the floor she was leaving the enclosure, but luckily she was making her way back inside. Love this gecko!

I’m inclined to agree. Those are some of the best Pac-Man frog setups I’ve ever seen! Do you know the name of the vining plant in the first two photos?

Yes! Infrared heat gun is the best tool I can think of. The only other thing I’d recommend is a decent digital hygrometer. AcuRite is a good brand. You may or may not know this, but all of those analogue temperature and humidity gauges they sell at the pet store are garbage.

What kind of equipment are you using to measure the temps and humidity? Maybe it is too cold in the cage.

I think a wooden terrarium with proper sealant would be fine. However, since that appears to be made of particle board or something similar I wonder if it would be possible at all to get a good coat of sealant into it. Any moisture that accesses the particle board will quickly ruin it. Obviously...

I’m sure he’ll love it! I’m sure you’ve been researching different methods of making the foam background, but if I may add a piece of advice from personal experience. Avoid the spray foam -> silicone -> substrate method of making the background for the beardie. Heavy lizards with large claws...

To clarify, I think a lizard feeder here and there wouldn’t be a bad thing for a bearded dragon. It’s certainly a small component of their natural diet. But if you were going to offer them I’d suggest a frozen/thawed feeder gecko/anole vs a wild lizard.

Those whiptail lizards actually make AMAZING pets. I had one when I was young and it was like a miniature tegu or monitor, all of the activity levels with none of the size and potential temperament issues. Feeding wild caught lizards to your pet lizard is not a good idea, due to parasite and...

I wouldn’t say leopard geckos are particularly active once they mature but they’re curious and definitely one of the lizards that I’d say are generally friendly. This one isn’t a fan of being held (yet) but she’s not afraid at all of me and accepts food from my fingers already on day 2. I would...

Nice herps, is that a house gecko? My leopard gecko of 15 years just passed away this month. I wasn’t going to get another one, but it just feels right after having a leopard gecko for more than half my life already. This one is a girl, I think, I’m waiting a few days before I bother her too...

Can’t remember if I’ve shared these here before. I have a 6 year old Madagascar giant day gecko that shares a tank with an almost 4 year old Madagascar hissing cockroach. The roach is way too big for her to try to eat, they mostly ignore each other but occasionally share basking areas. The...

The first one is a leopard gecko. Definitely a top three reptile in my opinion, very docile, hardy, and easy to maintain. The second is a giant day gecko. I think her care is pretty easy too but more required than a leopard gecko. They thrive in a planted setup and are active during the day...
