Wow, 17 years old! Noodle is a great snake name! Glad he is feeling better. At least your cat doesn't think he's a cat toy...

He eats frozen-thawed small rats. I get them from Layne Labs. I hear they have frozen chicks too.

I fed Snek yesterday night. By the way, the black coloration on his face went away after he shed! That reinforces the idea that it was just newspaper ink. I am quite relieved.

Looking closer, I can see that the black stuff is just on the surface, and that he is acting normally. I will investigate further tomorrow, but I am thinking it might be that he rubbed his face on a piece of wet crumpled newspaper that had a lot of dark pigment on it. I hope this is the case and...

I just turned around and looked at Snek, my ball python, and was greatly alarmed to find him looking like this! :thDo you think he just got some feces on his face, or is it something else? I notice he messed up the paper towel flooring and newspaper on the other side of his tank, but I can't...

Sounds good! What is their preferred substrate? Snek, the ball python, is my first snake and probably the easiest pet I have owned. He is quite picky about food, though, and not so keen on being handled. He refused 2 rats in a row last month (and frozen rats are pretty expensive)!

Very cool! How do their care requirements differ from those of ball pythons? (I hope you don't mind me asking so many questions. Feel free to answer at your leisure).

My ball python is a coral glow / banana morph, which I like because it is bright-colored, easy to spot, and seems very friendly. Also the eye, being almost black on a yellow background, is very clearly defined.

I believe Brazilian rainbow boas require a slightly larger tank size and a higher humidity level than ball pythons, but according to my online searches, they can make good beginner snakes as well. I love their rainbow shimmer too! Personally, though, I prefer ball pythons because they come in so...

Adorable! Your gecko has the same facial expression as mine. Their skin is definitely softer; I like the comparison to velvet. Mocha is very sensitive, and though she is calmer when held compared to my leopard gecko, I think it is because she is scared. He will eat one small rat every...2...

Is it true that corn snakes will eat whatever is given to them? My ball python is very picky, and seems to be on a partial food strike. Frozen rats are expensive! He is wasting rats, and my money! :barnie

Well, in my experience the African fat-tailed geckos aren't as fun as leopard geckos. My leopard gecko enjoys walking on her hamster wheel.

This is my African fat-tailed gecko. I find they are more timid and more delicate than leopard geckos. Mine sleeps all day, and I almost never see her. Although once she came out mid-day and shed her skin and ate it before my eyes.
