True, but I think even two acres, if it had pasture and brushy areas, could support a few goats through Spring, Summer and early fall if you had enough minerals to get you through.
Understandable, but it might be handy to have a way to produce milk, too. In case grocery stores shut down. With Spring coming and an area you can range them, you could definitely maintain them until mid-Fall, if you stock up on minerals/baking soda now. I guess you'd have to breed the does...
Thank you so much! You've definitely given me a lot of (tentative) confidence in my goat plans, as well as a lot of helpful pointers to where I need more learning.
Hi everybody - I have a million questions about goats. We want to get some, but it probably won't be until next year since we have lots of projects to get squared away first...finish the bigger chicken pen and bigger coop, some gates and things for the garden, and then put up fencing and finish...
Aww- 18! That's awesome. My two (Border Collie and Maltese) are both 14, the little guy's mostly blind and my big buddy is deaf as well as heart problems but still active and happy.
You give me hope about my boys.
You might want to consider moving their play house and other climbing toys further away from your fence. If they can jump on to it, they can go boing-boing from there, over your fence.
