    In my experience that depends on the string trimmer. I have an electric one and yep, the fence eats the string. It only runs about 20 minutes before a 40+ minute recharge.     If you use welded wire, do NOT use a string trimmer near it ... not unless you want the welds ripped and the wires bent creating holes. The welds are extremely weak, they will also break when you stretch it so you can't get it as tight as woven or knotted wire.

    I agree that a knotted wire fence on T posts can be less "obvious" than one on wood posts, especially from a distance.     If you are also concerned about keeping predators out I'd go with 2x4 knotted wire. As I sadly found out a fox can get through a 6" field fence and drag a full grown chicken back out of it. I think you'd be safe with 4" sheep and goat but a coon can go through that easily. It can be hard to...
