If these are pictures from this morning or yesterday, then -- yeah -- I'm seeing way too much fluid and lack of development for it to be a viable, timely chick. Just my $.02
Still working on the hatch. Two eggs left, one Olive Egger has pipped and the other is -- of course -- a slowpoke Marans. There's always a straggler or so when I hatch these.
Another benefit of raising Guineas is that they eat ticks.
But, yeah, the noise is a big deal breaker for me. Had the pleasure of loose peacocks once and after the experience of the dawn screams on the roof that sounded like some woman was being murdered, I'll take a rooster's morning crow...
10 eggs (7 FBCM + 3 Olive Eggers) made it to lockdown.
This batch will get to join the 13 in the brooder that hatched out last weekend. (6 Olive Eggers + 7 FBCM) (BTW, 8 Ayam Cemanis hatched then, too, but they're already off to their new home.)

I've got two hatches going: One for the Easter Hatch-a-long and one due a week earlier on Palm Sunday.
Pulled two eggs (blood rings) out of the Easter batch. :(
I candle pointed end down BUT my eggs are still in the turner. If you have a good candling light you should be able to see veining action and webbing wending up to the air sac. The ones that are questionable come out for further inspection. (And then if I'm still unsure, they are placed in a...
*IF* you decide to try hatching Trader Joe eggs, make sure you check the Julian calendar date (a 3-digit number which indicates packing date) for freshness, NOT the "Use By" date. You'll want to have the Julian date for the date of purchase (you there in the store) and the packing date to be...
Hey...
FYI: Contest #10 (how many will hatch) is not allowing entries. The note at the bottom of the page says it's "Not open for further replies."
Entry deadline is 4/5, but hard to enter with that restriction....
