My eggs traveled a grand total of 2 vertical feet, from one nest box to another under a broody.

Candled my 5 while the broody was eating, 2 were empty and 3 appear to have good development

I’m going to try to candle again this weekend if I can catch my broody off the nest.

We’re using horse bedding pellets from D&B. We’ve never had issue with the chicks eating it.

I actually got some farm store chicks last week, so I’ve got my chick fix for the next few weeks while we wait.

Candled today, I could see veins in about half the eggs, though I didn’t have the best flashlight and some of the eggs are brown, so it was harder to see in those. I’m very excited to see what happens with them.

Just got 5 eggs under my broody bantam. She’s a first time mama, so fingers crossed that she does a good job.

I won’t be using an incubator, but one of my hens just went broody and we’re going to let her try to hatch some out. Interested to see how everyone else’s turns out.
