    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

Sooo this painted thing is starting to make really weird noises... almost egg song like, not crowing, (dare I hope?) and it squatted today when I went to pet it... it is a little bit of a submissive bird but this is the first time it’s done that. So I’m reallllly hoping it’s a pullet! It’s 19...

Couple closer pics I got later. No crowing, chats a lot with chirps and funny low sounds but nothing even close to a crow. I’m still stumped on this one lol.

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

Updated pics of the painted one - the partridge has gone to his new home. I think we’re at about 15 weeks here? Not a ton of color compared to the other 2 obvious cockerels in this pen, a bit of color coming into the small wattles and on the flesh colored part of its comb. Not much comb...

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

10ish weeks update! This guy is getting some gorgeous iridescent feathers in his tail. Not crowing yet but is definitely at the top of the pecking order. Funny thing is the sebright in the background has been crowing since he turned 6 weeks old, and I thought this guy would join in but nope...

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

I know right? Haha. Their behaviour leads me to believe that one is a pullet but you never know! I’ll update again later on. :) These guys are both silkie crosses from what I can tell, so I’m assuming that’s why! :D

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

So I think this guy is pretty obvious now, especially taking into consideration his solicitous behaviour towards Boko (the white one, which I’m fairly certain is a pullet - see her below and see if you agree! Boko: 7-ish weeks, I think? Lol.

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

I’ve been thinking this one is a cockerel based on behaviour as it is; but I was second guessing myself. Haha. Thanks! wasn’t planning on keeping a cockerel but we’ll see. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

Rut-row guys! Took this dude out to get a pic of this ridiculous crest to send to a friend, flash was on and looks to me like quite a bit of red coming through that comb and those wattles... what think you? 🤔

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

I feel like the comb in this one is growing fast... but maybe just because it’s got a single comb and the only the bird I have to compare it to has the walnut comb? Haha this one also has the beginnings of wattles coming... And for good measure since I’m updating this guy, here’s the other too!

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

An update because they’re too cute. Haha. I think they’re around 5.5 weeks now. They aren’t using the heat source (MHP) hardly at all anymore, and the room they’re in is around 64-66 F. (I know, it’s still too early to sex them, but hey. xD)

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

I’m wondering if these were a mixed silkie/frizzle pen, actually. I’m not sure, the breeder has a ton of birds so anything’s possible. Haha. I’ll try to get better pics of their combs at our next photo shoot too; the partridge looking one has all 5 toes, the lighter one has nubbins that are...

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

It was supposed to be one of each but yeah, they look extremely similar. Haha. They both have slightly frizzled feathers coming in, too. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The partridge looking one has a single comb, however. Chickens are not my forte (I’m a waterfowl person haha) so this is all new to me. 😝 I only have...

    Silkie/Frizzle chicks

Hey all! I obtained these 2 from a local breeder, unsure about sex on either (wasn’t a huge concern for me because at this time they’re the only chickens here) but figured I would start my thread now and see what you peeps think! They’re around 3-4 weeks now, I think. Not sure on their hatch...
