Hint- rat traps work well! I got 4 squirrels in one day. I used a large fence around it- keep dog and hens away.
I totally agree- wild life becomes a pest if it crosses the home front or kills the flock.
So true! Our hens love to free range!
We will most likely do that again once the fox is removed. This one is boldly visiting our home area. I saw it out the window yesterday trying to catch a red squirrel. Without much success! Now those red squirrels are obnoxious- at least the fox could make...

I read 6- 8 inches off the ground.
I bought the wire- cheapest part.
Probably- our neighbor free ranges - he has 2 roosters. One is a Guinee rooster- they are completely free range. He had one fox issue and the farmer got it- no more issues
Good point!
my chickens are locked up securely after 8 pm

We used chain link 6 foot around perimeter and buried fence around the base. 4 doors with pavers for threshold. If this...
Oh we did that awhile ago, yes we alerted all our neighbors.
And asked how to stop the fox.
I was amazed to see the fox this morning.
We been here a decade and this is the first time I ever seen them. Also saw a raccoon go through. Husband saw a mom with 5 babies on our neighbor’s place.
Update!
Neighborhood farmers have lost hens as well and have set out traps. Saw the fox today- it is so bold it is coming closer to our home- at 8 am.
we put up a chain link fence to protect the ladies- it is 6 feet high. I am doubling the fence on the bottom with chicken wire to make the holes...

And farmers will take care of the foxes.

Both hens were taken after 8 am to 10 am when we found them.
The coop and run is completely safe.
I read that foxes are bolder during the time they have pups? I will keep the birds...
