To all the people claiming to have mean rhode island reds. I would love to see pictures of these birds because I highly doubt you have anything other then production red birds from a hatchery. I have never had a mean rooster or hen in all my years of breeding Rhode Island Reds. They are usually...

Unfortunately I haven't made any shows this year. I'm surprised nobody had any good reds at Windsor. I figured...

The sheriff said that there is nothing he can do about it. Its his word against mine. It just very unfortunate that this had to happen. If it was an honest mistake and he didn't mean to sell me this rooster why would he wait 6 months to start all this drama. Maybe he didn't think this rooster...

Maybe you could buy 6 chicks at a "discount" and then "gift" a few back to the seller. Any rules on gifting chicks?

When you order from a hatchery there is not much of a difference. They will sell you production reds and call them "Rhode island Reds" There is a BIG difference in the old type RIR! Compare my avatar picture to your Production red rooster and you will see some of the differences

You really don't need all that much humidity for the first 18 days. If your window is fogging up bad, I would guess your hygrometer is not working properly. Make sure you check your air cell to make sure it is getting bigger on schedule. It's not exact science but it should look something like...
