Sorry I haven’t stopped by in awhile. Put some of the big girls in the pen with the littles. And took pictures of the littles to get confirmation on gender since I want to separate the boys since they will be headed to freezer camp. Also gave everybody some treats.
Our summer temps and humidity here are similar to Hawaii (if not higher depending on exactly where you are)but without the island breeze. I can’t imagine trying to keep chicks alive in summer. I was having to set the brooder outside in the shade to keep it from over heating last week and it only...
It’s been busy around here with the garden so I haven’t gotten to spend much time with the flock. The chicks are 2 weeks now and probably half feral lol. They don’t see me unless I’m feeding or watering them. The only reassurance I have is they like me far better than my dad who checked on them...
It’s been busy and I keep forgetting to post but the hens have gotten to go out in the chicken tractor a few times now. I’ve spent today and yesterday hatching chicks!
I’ve seen several people on here with them!
They seem to wear pretty good! I’ve had mine 7 months and they are starting to spring a leak but mine get daily use in the garden too. I’m probably walking at least 2 miles a day in them. They also got left out damp when it was extremely cold one...
I still have 2 hens that are being treated for sour crop but are getting better so I’ve been taking them their meals. Yesterday I gave the rest of the flock so clover. I did turn them loose to free range for a bit while I was raking pinestraw. I candled my eggs yesterday and out of 33, 28 look...
I spent 30 minutes rounding everybody up after I accidentally left the pen open this morning. I was up most of the night messing with the incubator again. I went and sat next to the coop for a little bit. It’s so funny listening to them sing the egg song. Everyone sings it even the roosters out...
Right now I technically have one personal cat. But I still help my parents their three cats that we got when I was in my teens. Im living at home right now while I save up to build a house. I love the this area and have plans on building on the other side of the property. As for foster cats I...
Fussed with incubator I’m attempting to set it up but I’m struggling with keeping the temperature in the right zone. Luckily I figured out my thermometer wasn’t working before I put the eggs in.
