In my state the minimum is six. If you find someone else that wants Chicks and takes the extras that would work, but; You should always get at least three. Chickens are a Flock animal, and; In my experience with 3 batches of day old Chicks bought at a feed store, 10% fail to survive ten days...- GC-Raptor
