    I'm stymied.

Henrietta Brown is the only Black Asian in the bunch.. IIRC, the sign did say Black asian, Mix.. I asked for 3 Black Asians, but apparently the gal didn't know one from the other, so 1 BA, and to BR mixes. She has been the most skittish of them all.. But today I was treated with her not only...

    I'm stymied.

As far as the 3 BRs go, one is slightly smaller in build, has his head feathers upright all the time, and has larger more pronounced earlobes than the other too.. he's developing the more slender pointed feathers in the saddle area, and is my morning alarm clock while the other two BRs still...

So, and update since the kids are 11 weeks old. I know 3 are definitely BRs (full bred) and two are BR mixes since they look like BRs but are definitely much darker in color and one of them has a tell tail sign (pun intended since the sign is on the tail. One has white legs with black, and the...

    I'm stymied.

I'm hoping if there's a guy in the bunch, he'll do the same.. And just for fun's sake, here's the chicks at 3 days of age. Head dots in full display. From 'My life and times: sexing barred rocks': Those chicks having headspots irregular in outline and scattered in appearance are males while the...

    I'm stymied.

Ok, more time spent on researching BRs gave me the following indicators. 1. Comb size and coloring are not reliable indicators. 2. Male BRs have a feather ending in a black point. (none of mine do) 3. All of my BRs have dark markings on their legs, and are yellowish in general. In addition to...

    I'm stymied.

Coloring and head looks the same for the juvenile barnvelder, but the pattern on the feathers doesn't match.

Oh, I do have a pretty tail though!

    I'm stymied.

Ok, first off they weren't being very cooperative today, as you can see in the first photo. (just kidding, it was nap time). Second image shows from top view. 3 of the BRs are like this with pinkish comb, while the one male (I presumed) has a bigger, redder comb and more of a pointed tail...

Also based on breed description, that would account for his size being larger than the barred rocks.

    I'm stymied.

This morning I noticed the bluish sheen to her black feathers, and when I looked on a page about the breed she fits the description fairly well.

    I'm stymied.

Well that really does follow the notion that TSC doesn't know diddly about pullets, though 3 of the chicks were pulled from the 'pullet' section. Three of the barred rocks are much lighter in color than one. He's the one to the far left of the photo, and he has the largest comb and wattle of...

    I'm stymied.

Definitely. The 'black asian' and this feller stick together like peanut butter and jelly. In the photo he's to the right of her, sammiched between the two barred rocks. Added a second image.

    I'm stymied.

And that is what she's supposed to be, but the gal getting the chicks out of the brooder at TSC managed to pull a barred rock (other than the 3 definite pulled from the other section) and one black/white that looks like a barred rock/black mix.

    I'm stymied.

I have searched the web over and can't for the life of me figure out what cross/breed this 7 week old chick is. Any help? She's also about the size of my barred rocks, so I doubt she would be a bantam.
