Does anyone know if chicken saddles prevent hawk attacks?

I like the way you think... a guard goose. I always wanted a goose and now I find out that they chase hawks away. Awesome! What kind would you suggest?

Does anyone know if chicken saddles prevent hawk attacks?

😆- funny enough they advertise them as protection from the puncturing grip of a hawk. I can see that going both ways though. Friggin hawk shouting “thanks for the carry out container!”

Does anyone know if chicken saddles prevent hawk attacks?

I loooove ducks!! My love for ducks is what led me to chickens. We have all sorts of shiny stuff all over the yard and surrounding coop, been about 6 months now. So far only one known hawk swooped in. Everyone’s fine, but it sure wasn’t afraid of all the shiny stuff. Does it work at all or...

Welcome!! How's Scotland? Is it full of protests and coronavirus there too? lol. Logically, I can see how you may have a good point there, but it's too late for my birds because they're every type of color and I promised them a good home for life. That is interesting though.

Just gonna try it for now, and hope for the best. We have a lot of hawks around here, so they're bound to give it a go if they feel like these saddles aren't scary to them at all. Will let everyone know.

Lol. You can order a stencil from Amazon like we did. I believe it was $10. Also, if you live in Western PA then my boyfriend says he'll make more of them for $50 lol

Does anyone know if chicken saddles prevent hawk attacks?

I really like the first idea with the saddle and eyes. I ordered the supplies to make it and am actually gonna give it a try. Worst case scenario is it only protects their backs from over mating. Fingers crossed.

Does anyone know if chicken saddles prevent hawk attacks?

Most people use them for protecting an over-mated hen who’s starting to get bald spots from the roosters. Some people use them as pretty outfits just because some of them are really cute. The description on the items say that they’re used to repel hawks too. But just because the description...

Already have a wonderful full protection coop & run, including a roof- it’s when they’re free ranging that I worry.
