Oh I will have to; two of my three chicks are definitely roosters. I'm suspicious of the third one. I can't have five boys, but I just know I'll end up keeping them. Had a fight break out between my other mature lads just today.
I'm seriously considering it though.
But I'll be expecting some...
Still thinking 9 is a boy, but at eight weeks....small enough comb. I could well be wrong.
Which would give you 6 possible hens.
And ten roosters.
I'd like @Mamatomany123 to state their opinion....😁
4,5,6,8,10,11,12,14,15,16 are absolutely boys.
1,2,3,7,13 are possibly girls? Although I am still suspicious of 13 and 3.
That's me being optimistic.
11 is SO CUTE.
Handsome boy he is.
Sorry haha. I still think that's a boy.
That comb is huge.
It might not be red but it's still way bigger than I would expect a pullet of two times that age to have. Even three times.
@RoostersAreAwesome I think it's great you kept roosters like that. A lot wouldn't because of the feed costs and the fact you don't get eggs back.
I personally prefer the roosters to the hens. They're so much nicer and less selfish. Both of my boys love their cuddles & I have never been pecked...
It sounds silly but I also would feel sorry for the roosters to not have any hens.
I love to see a roo with his flock of hens. It just makes me feel so good.
I could never do that, but I understand.
I'd still want save them
I can't even kill a mosquito though.
Also I've never had Marek's in my flock. Been keeping chickens for about 8 years and as of yet, no mareks. But if I took in a load of roosters from everywhere, I'd probably soon get it.
Sorry to hear about that.
A LOT of reasons. For a start I only have 7 hens. I have two roosters. And I don't have enough sheds for any more. (Although I am thinking of building another one.)
And also my dad wouldn't let me have the amount I want.
I also have three chicks at the moment. Which I am suspicious of. They're...
I should so not be using Backyard Chickens. Every time I see someone with more roosters than they can deal with, I want those roosters.
If I had my own way, my yard would be full of unwanted roosters. Which wouldn't work.
I feel like I should tell everyone their roosters are pullets.
I mean, it isn't like it would be easy to re-home 13-14 roosters.
Is there anyone near you who would take one, or is it better for you to butcher them?
You're doomed.
I'll stick with my initial thought of possibly 1,2,3 and 7. The dark comb on three has me not quite decided.
I still have no idea how you managed it.
I'm feeling sad about those roosters fates.
"I hope you have more roosters than I said"
You practically couldn't have had more...
Maybe you could just post photos of the ones you aren't convinced are roos? That way it would be a lot less confusing lol.
16 chicks are doing my head in.
