Currently keep my feed in plastic trash can, inside a steel tub, on 1 foot raised playhouse porch, and don't have any problems. Don't have a rat problem where I'm at, field mice but the roaming cats take care of them pretty good. Now I do have a frog problem, they love our little goldfish pond
My flock deserves their food to be stored safe from little critters that want to eat it, plus it can be stored inside the run so the wife doesn't have to walk as far. Have one for the dogs and love it...
