Talk me off the Ledge... $2000 for a chicken coop!

UPDATE: I actually decided to go with a custom prefabricated coop that was assembled onsite. The cost was about the same: $2200. I think this was a great outcome. You can read about it here. Or click to see a video tour.

Talk me off the Ledge... $2000 for a chicken coop!

I paid an architect to design it. I’m not sure how much input I’ll have during construction since the price was based on the design. Please, there are no roosts, poop board etc... just the coop.

Thank you! You are correct, these are great options. This may change my direction. I had reached out to the Lodge Chicken Coop builder earlier this month but had forgotten all about it. I’m so glad you brought this to my memory. Even though the coop is smaller, it has a covered run. Great option.

Y You are reading my mind! For the run, I was definitely thinking abut the t-posts and welded wire. I already have a 10x10 dog fencing that is working well, but would like for it to be a little larger. Right now, I have chicken wire on top. You gave me many other good ideas! I'm sure I will...

Based on this, I guess my cost is reasonable. I need to go ahead and accept the offer before prices go up even further!

Here is the design. I paid an architect to lay it out. I guess that means I'm already a little 'extra'!
