Blue is pretty hard to confuse with lavender if you breed them. More common is to have a really dark blue and think it's black. If that was the case there should be other blues hatching so it wouldn't take long to figure it out if you or someone else is hatching its eggs.

Black Xs Lavender won't produce blue. It produces blacks unless the black carries a lavender gene and in that case it would produce blacks and Lavenders. To produce blue one parent would have to be blue or splash.
