Wanted to leave a quick update - I don't like to leave things open-ended in which no one knows how the outcome. All four are doing well. Their names are Panther (black one), Dinah (smaller gray one), Serena (bigger gray one), and Earl Grey (white and gray one).
After syringe feeding for quite a...
Sorry for the lack of updates; here are some updates:
Dinah learning how to use a bottle. Shortly after, her brother almost chewed the nipple off, so no more bottles for them. 😅
I swapped to each kitten gets their own dish after this to help with mealtime messiness. But Dinah still puts...
100% agree. I lost one rescue cat from cancer. She had a tumor in each mammory gland, and it spread into her organs from there. Cancer spread fast, breaking the skin around the glands open, and that got infected... it was awful. Vet operated all he could but told us that it would kill her. Six...
Oh yeah that makes sense. I'm sure this powered stuff doesn't taste like mother's milk.
Three of them are taking milk and kitten food from a saucer now. The fourth, little black one I'm calling Panther, is still not trying to eat from the dish and refuses food in any form. But is drinking milk...
Also got the non-clumping litter yesterday.
And... and unbelievable as it sounds... the family who came in behind us (they were there because of their dog) might take the two strongest kittens. The girls played with the kittens through the wire door of the carrier and finally I asked, would...
And she is, I know. It was darker than lemonade. Also she had a poop stuck to the fur on her back end that was so hard, I don't see how she got it out.
She hadn't had much since Monday at the latest. All mom and I could do with the bottle was 5ml per feeding which was way below what she needs...
Gotcha!
I think three of the four are definitely ready for this.
I'm glad you found them homes! <2 Sorry you couldn't catch the one.
Thank you! <3 I'm going to try.
<3
Aww, that is a shame.
Oohhh. That's neat. Are the rats pets? Cats might uh... not be a good choice if the rats are...
That's awesome you could make sure they are well cared for. <3 I hope to do the same for these four.
Oh yes, I've seen it. Once an SUV came and opened the door and let out a bunch of cats into our front yard.
I do that too.
Aww, sorry you have to deal with so many too. We only had one that I...
Awww, poor little thing! Glad your son found the little guy.
I'm so glad to know this. One of them chewed the end of the nipple off. 😬 (Realized it before she swallowed it though.) I figured that one is pretty much ready to be weaned. 😅
I don't have any that isn't clumping. Will play sand...
How about videos? (Hoping I did this right, never have uploaded to YouTube before.) First video, when I realized the mother didn't return yesterday. Second video, after they had some kitten milk and had a nap. You can tell the energy level increased, and it looks to me like they feel better. 🤩
Sure, I can get some photos. :) We're just about to have bathtime. Feeding time earlier wore them out, so I was letting them rest a little.
Oh yes, that's good stuff. Jackie, my rescue from 2018, ate that as a kitten. The store didn't have any, so I'm going to order some online.
All but one is...
One of them pooped. It was very hard. Wish I knew who did it so I could focus on stimulating the other three.
Turns out, one major problem was that the hole we put in the nipple was too small and she was frustrated that something was being shoved at her but gave her nothing. 😅 She drank about...
I'll be careful. :)
In 2010, I had one kitten we bottle-fed. I had no idea what I was doing, but she survived. These kittens are different; they won't take the bottle. I have no idea what's wrong.
Thank you - I did this but they won't take it. I have to hold them up and try to force it in...
A cat from a feral cat population down the road decided to move her kittens into our attic. Not the first time it's happened, this cat usually brings them back to the neighbors who feed the population. I noticed they started screaming insistently on Monday. We had a storm that day, so I thought...
