They aren't necessarily the closest genetically, but the color genotype is the same. I'd actually consider some gold duckwing gamefowl with slate legs to probably be closer genetically, however, there are so many types of gamefowl it would be hard to pin down which ones.

Is it possible for a yellow legged roo and a slate half Ameraucana mom to have a white legged child somehow? Yes That is the expected outcome. In layman's terms: Yellow legs means the bird has the yellow skin gene and non-slate gene. Slate legs means the bird has the white skin gene and the...

@nicalandia It's been a while since you've been here but I believe you'll come back so it's worth a shot. I tried contacting Dr. Okimoto about the discrepancy, but he hasn't responded to my emails (I tried different email addresses for him.) Basically everyone who has been in contact with Dr...

Silver ginger is silver duckwing with Dark Brown/Ginger. Considering that Columbian is similar to Db it's no surprise the result looks similar.

Take brown red (red birchen) OEG and select for dark skin, deep red necks, and no breast lacing. This color already exists in Old English and I think it just comes down to selection.

No it's not. Smoky is a rare gene that turns black into grey. Autosomal red is beige on silver birds. I think there is more than one gene that causes autosomal red. There is the autosomal red gene and then there are silver hens with brass despite the fact that their male counterparts don't have...

The beige color is autosomal red and the eyebrow color is still the chick plumage which hasn't melted out yet.

Based on the slate legs, I think probably recessive white. Dominant white washes them out usually.

I just don't see any gold pigment whatsoever. Dominant white can turn black brownish like dun.

Yes but the chicken is a pullet therefore inherited what looks like silver from her father (maybe she is gold based but I think not.(

That is impossible though, as birchen is dominant and he is clearly duckwing. Maybe another rooster or hen is responsible.
