Good question. One would think that imprinting out of an incubator would be a thing.
Perhaps mine don't imprint because I don't snuggle them so they seem to lose the imprint after a couple days.
IMHO, 250 is way too high in a smallish container in a house. I once went on a trip and left 2 chicks in a big bin under a 250w left for a friend to care for. The chicks cooked in there.

The space between the pelvic bones will only tell if laying is imminent, not whether they will lay well throughout the year.
