Went to the PetSmart yesterday to buy some more food for my budgies. On my way to the bird aisle I saw four elementary grade kids banging on the glass and yelling at the poor birds. The kids were shouting at a conure (who was flapping frantically around in the cage) once I finally walked over...
I love how he is sitting on the door instead of one of his many perches! Would love to get my budgies a good flight cage. Their current one will have to do for now.
Before Covid my local PetSmart sold them for $10-15 dollars for "regular ones" and $15-20 for the "fancy" ones. Once Covid hit the price went up to around $20-30... but that's still really cheap.
Not sure.
I think it's better they're overpriced because it deters people from just buying one on a whim. Unlike the poor budgies who you can get for 10-20 bucks without thinking it through.
Cage birds in general are noise boxes. Supposedly the Green Cheeks are "quieter" then others but they are still very chatty and can be loud when they get going. I have three budgies and they LOVE starting their mornings with a song. It's not very loud but to most people it'd be very annoying-...
Do not own any conures (yet) but would love to have one someday! I'd get a Green Cheek and/or Blue Crowned if/when given the chance. I do own three budgies but I'm hoping to expand my variety.
