I wouldn't order a male. I'd just order extra females, from the reviews I've read (for cackle) you'll probably end up with a male.

Are you just interested in hens? If so, a hatchery is the way to go. You may still get a male, but your chances of getting females are much improved.

I have buff, light, and dark. The dark are my favorites, but it probably depends on where you get them. If you can get eggs or chicks from a breeder, you'll probably get better quality chicks.
