    That's more than it looked like from outside. Is the temperature inside the coop the same as it is outside the coop on a sunny afternoon? The guidelines are just guidelines, the temperatures/humidities are the true test. :D

    Night is when they need ventilation the most -- shut up inside with the ammonia from their poop and the moisture from their breath.

    Different birds seem to be capable of handling pellets at different ages. I don't care much about pellet vs crumble except for chicks too young to handle the pellets. Depending on the feeder, there is sometimes less waste with pellet feed.

    I use medicated chick feed for the first 4-6 weeks and then switch my chicks over to all-flock feed as they integrate into the main flock.
