    After having more time to think it over, I am convinced that there is no right way to handle the situation. No matter what they did there would be a sizeable amount of people that thought it was wrong and complain. For myself, a 3 month delay would be easier to adjust to than a 1 week delay.

    Frustrating, yes. But by doing that, they would be inconveniencing 1000's? of customers instead of the 100's? that had ordered for that window. Not to mention the commercial contracts, though those were probably already separated.
