They're elastic bands from one of those friendship bracelet loom kits. I double them over on their legs when they first hatch, but they outgrow that by about 2 weeks of age, so I put them over their wings at that point instead to keep certain ones marked until they're old enough for their...
It certainly looks blue to me. If the only possible father is the Barred Rock and he's for sure a pure Barred Rock, then all of his offspring should inherit barring from him. It's likely, with Easter-eggers as the possible mothers, that you'll see silver or gold coloring leaking through in...
So you haven't finalized the eggs set number yet? Because I maaay have ended up setting a few more in the qualifying time span after I sent my number in while saying I wouldn't set anymore

...But this pretty little baby might just have to stick around anyway if she's a pullet :love
I think it's just a matter of how fast the heat penetrates the egg to start development. Smaller eggs heat up faster than larger eggs, in other words, so they start developing a little sooner. 🙂 For the record, yes, my bantams tend to hatch a day or two early. Especially my OEGBs, but their eggs...
Eggs due on the first will count as well? I have some due then as well!
I will not be adding any more to my incubator in time, though, so what's in right now is going to be my total for the hatchalong if that's the case and I can send in my number. 🙂
If you set on the 18th, then day 1 is the 19th. Think of the 18th as day 0; they've not been in the incubator long enough for anything to have happened, so that day doesn't really count toward development. 🙂
I'm set! :wee Not confident that many will develop based on the ones I've been setting to check fertility the past couple weeks, but set nonetheless! Who do we send our numbers to?
