Integration complete. Tonight they learned how to go into the coop at dusk. My rooster played a BIG role in getting everyone into the coop. Im so proud of him AND my chicks. Here they are sitting ON TOP of their hot plate. The rooster is so loving. He broke up a few squabbles today and dragged...

Here are the chicks at 6.5 weeks old. We are working on integrating them to the flock now. It’s a hard job. Look and dont touch with an escape hatch for the chicks to come out and go back in when the hens peck at them and THE HENS PECK AT THEM. Will wait for them to be 8 weeks old before i...

HI, thanks for your question. The hens were 6 months and had just started laying. I collected 7 eggs and 5 hatched. One had cross beak and i had to cull they them. I dont know who is male or female yet.. i think i def. have at least one female … very small comb and long tail. The others its too...

Chicks are now 7 days old. One of the biggest strongest chicks looks to be developing cross beak - reading up on that, incubator inconsistencies can be a factor in causing this. The birds are not inbred so that should be ruled out. right now we are monitoring her, she eats and drinks (her crop...

Two are super feisty already - chest bumping and pecking and trying to hop out of the brooder.. moral of the story here is, Mother Nature is a lot stronger than all of the mistakes i made. Its amazing that these hatched and are so vibrant. I have another 12 eggs in the NR360 - all a lot bigger...

Day 22… 4 eggs pipped.. sadly it looks like they are shrink wrapped.. this im blaming on the POS incubator. I did chip away some shell they pipped and applied coconut oil.. and put them all back and increased humidity. They are all peeping!!! Hope they can stay with us without further...

Day 21. 3 eggs have now pipped. The first “smallest baby egg” appears to be zipping - or trying to zip. Theres a fair amount of peeping from that egg .. the other 2 eggs just have the initial pip to the shell and softer PEEPING coming from those eggs. Its going to be a long night. Its been 8...

You know i didnt actually see that it had pipped the shell until i put it back which is why i thought it had pipped downwards. I assumed that. Its having a good long rest now. Im not wanting to move it anymore and already feel terrible that i interrupted this important work. So im gonna leave it...

Day 21: my smallest “weakest” egg pipped. I was candling it because its the only egg i can really see through. I saw that it made an internal pip. And when i was putting it back in the incubator i saw that it had begun pipping through the shell. - it did need to be turned UP it was pipping...

Day 20 power is back on! Calibrating the NR360 may move eggs to it because the temperature is so stable… its a dream really.. having trouble getting the humidity up but will resort to adding a paper towel if needed under the slip guard. The eggs are still in the little incubator .. for now...
