George isn't the most handsome , since he is just a white bird during mud season, but he's very sweet. He may be part legbar, since his brother, from another hatch is white, with gray bars.
He is 4 months old.
Below is George as a chick.
I still have Matt, and George. George is a sweetheart. Matt is getting frisky. Matt normally avoids me. Today he was eating so I petted him. He spun around and bit me making sure it was skin so it would hurt. I laughed, an told him he was not my first rooster ever, I roughed him up back...
George loves food more than a meat bird. He fights other chickens for the food dish, but if he sees me he wants to stand between my legs or on my feet.
I also let George out for a bit today, and he got pecked by teenaged hens older than him. I put him back in with the hens from a group younger than him, he seemed happier about that.
I just put Gregg in the freezer camp. He was nice enough, but would peck your hand if you were not careful, I would try to never give him the satisfaction of pecking. But just today he started to crow. I still have Matt the gray one, and i don't see fancy feathers on George yet. so we will see...
Gregg follows me like a puppy, if I am in the run, he will not leave my side, he also asks me not to leave, he will pace by the gate wanting me to come back.
I took Gregg and put him in with older hens, and this morning I took out this dark gray chicken, I had thought was a girl. The dark gray (not Sara,) just seemed so much bigger than the other hens. An the tail seemed so long. There was not butt saddle feathers, but when the light hit his neck I...
I kept 10 of these. Here is their latest pics. You may just count 9 but there is a hidden tail behind the black middle chick.tod is not so boyish.maybe the only two boys i have are Gregg and George. George is the white one.
Gregg is very calm, and friendly.
Above we have Greg, Gray chick is Sara, Todd is brown, and Fanny is the light brown, and surprisingly the chick at 5 oclock is the other Frank.
They have a large card board hut in there coop, with blankets on top to keep them warm. with a heat lamp attached to a wood pole that doesn't touch...
George is still caring for young babies, George will join the others his age when the new chick eggs hatch, then the babies he was watching will join the new chicks when they get their sea legs.
Below, are the root for me chicks in an outdoor pen, I may not have all photo-ed and 4 have a new...
