Sorry can’t help out.
Just checking in from Prairieville. My 11 hens did well through the cold weather- water bucket froze.. I had one that had a lash egg and was sick for 2weeks- she is limping now but much much better. Have to separate her, the other chickens are fricking monsters at...
The 6 pullets I have now are 3 weeks old and doing very well in the coop/run on their own.
Getting 5 new baby chicks today that will start in the brooder. Then plan to put the brooder in the coop so both groups can be familiar with each other.
Damn…it’s been hot.
Want to take a guess and try to name the chick?

We had a bad storm come through last night and the temp dropped from 95 to 80 in like 40mins. The chicks did not like that at all. They were loud and erratic. The heating pad was working but couldn’t catch up to the sudden decrease in temp so daughter and I moved them to the garage where it was...

I need some help here…I am really confused about what to feed.
There are different types for different ages and situations:
Crumble
Layer
Pellets
16%, 18% protein?
Oyster shells

Going to order baby chicks soon and I don’t know what to have ready and what to...
I heard about the Buffalo gnats…
A friend at work lost 11 hens in one day. The Buffalo gnats got into the hens nose/respiratory systems and suffocated them.
Crazy…
Yeah…will take care of them sure, but the pampering is a bit too much. I believe it will actually cause more harm than good. A spoiled animal is significantly less able to adapt to environmental conditions- especially if power goes out (hurricane).
Giving daily treats can be hazardous also-...
