It’s been raining, sleeting and snowing here already. I didn’t get home in time to get the eggs before it got dark so I guess I’ll be gathering frozen eggs tomorrow. 🤣 If this turns into frozen rain I’m sure the power will go out but I’m ready for it if it does.

If you have sturdy coop I’d lock them in the coop. They’d probably want to stay in there anyway during a storm.

I used to live in Madisonville, Mandeville and Abita Springs. I always wanted to move back to the Northshore but not now. I want to move back there the way it was 20 years ago.

When I got divorced and had to buy a new house I specifically looked for a home outside ANY city limits on at least one acre. I knew I was going to raise chickens again and didn’t want to deal with any regulations. I found what I was looking for plus an additional acre so I’m back into...

If you can set a bug bomb on a flat surface pointing up toward the where you think the nest is that might get them without them getting you.

That’s great but the won’t be happy there. The zoo people won’t let them eat electrical wiring, plumbing, lawn chairs, hoses, all the garden plants, tires, trampolines and so on. :D Glad you found them a cool home.

I don’t know if you would want to drive to Alexandria but Petrus Feed and Seed will let you order whatever quantity you want. They get most of their chickens from Privett Hatchery but they do have other sources for quail and such. Edit: I just looked at Privett’s website and they do sell Khaki...

Oh, well then I’m no help. I’m not good with breeds unless I have them myself. Maybe she’ll pop out a green egg, then you can just call her an olive egger! :D

It would be nice if we could keep it going. I got into chickens six/seven years ago with my wife, got divorced, had to move into an apartment, finally bought my own land, now I’m back into chickens again for the long haul. :D I have 15 laying hens(EE, white Leghorns, Production Blue, Speckled...

What breeds are those? I already have an EE cockerel and a Welsummer cockerel in the brooder so I really don’t need another one right now. People are buying every chicken they can find here so you should be able to find them a home. Craig’s List maybe.

Thanks for responding but I already bought 3 blue and 3 black Ameraucana pullets from Cackle. Since Cackle admits their sexing is only 80% average, I’m betting one of the Ameraucana pullets will be a male. I’ll keep you in mind if I decide I need one though.
