Find the incubating with friends thread. You have a lot of information to learn and they/we can help you. This, unfortunately, is not one of the more favored models. They're tough to work with but will get the job done with good care and attention.
Keep in mind- if they are selling 30, and they're shipped, they'll likely be sending you between 35-40. If you can afford it, always go bigger...goes for coops too!
Yes! I'm going to try and get my other crazy chicken friend to go with me!!! Come to think of it, I do remember a couple Asian birds there maybe... What'd you bring?
Yes- no kidding. I showed, and bred, golden retrievers. It is important to me to do my due diligence. It only pays in the end. A $30 bird from a good breeder CAN save you hundreds in the long run...especially when you start letting hens go broody to add more to your flock.
Everything must...
yes, thank you Walt...that means a lot coming from you. I have not been happy with what I've seen available out this way (lots of "light", faded colors, on skinny birds) and knew what I wanted, and from who. Wish me luck! What do you have going on these days?
Heads up, ladies and gents! I will be setting 24+ Blue Laced Red Wyandottes a week from Saturday. These have birds from the four main breeders~ Jerry Foley, Blue Poultry, Patterson and Gabbard Farms. Here are some pictures... I am also hoping for eggs in early February from the silver laced pair...
Yes- I've dealt with him before and have seen his birds... Can't go wrong with Jeff/ @Papa Brooder from Papa's Poultry. Gorgeous, high quality, birds, wonderful customer service... But he's in Nor Cal so it's a shipping issue... I'm looking for BYC members that sell their own hatching eggs...
I don't mind identifying the breeder at all...however, she did not pack them well, in the least! They were wrapped in packing paper only... We have lost 9 before we've started.
I posted pictures yesterday when they arrived... Maybe theyre in my profile folder? You can send me your cell and I'd be happy to text you. The breeder is in CT and shows her Marans.
Hi! While we are not breeders, we are hatching eggs within the next few weeks from an excellent breeder, of show quality birds, from Bev Davis lines. Let me know if you're interested. They'll be straight run. We are in Thousand Oaks.
There are different types of breeding and spiral breeding is an acceptable practice for a couple generations... As a "breeder", however, you need to cull frequently, and discriminantly, to achieve a "good product". You would want to establish a solid foundation for your flock and only breed the...
I love it!!! We have a neighbor like you too...and we live within "Horse property". There are roosters all around us, my husband is so afraid if iffending the one, we are situating our rooster coop outside OUR bedroom window- I don't care so much, I'm up at the crack anyway.
They are a...
