That's good to hear she's getting better! How much colloidal silver do you put in the nebulizer? I'd like to use it in a nebulizer, I've only used the silver orally so far.
He's still improving, just maybe not as fast as I would like, but his episodes arent as severe and he doesn't need much help now. Although I'm still scared to leave for long periods.
To control it now, i try to just slightly elevate his chest or hold his head and talk sweetly to him to calm...
Thank you, by some miracle he's actually been so well today! I was thinking it was gonna be like yesterday where he'd start choking in the evening, but it's 10:50pm and I only once had to help him today!
The other times, I'd see him get a bit choked up, but he was able to clear his throat...
It's because I know he would die if I tried to travel with him and have vets examine him. In the confined space in the car, it would be difficult to do these "techniques" to get him able to breathe, if he did it in the hospital I bet the vets would intervene when they don't know how to save him...
They wouldn't refill his meds :( I explained the situation and everything. They won't without an exam.
I knew they wouldn't.
He last went there in May, had a blood test to check his kidneys to ensure that it was safe to give anti inflammatories.
If his kidneys were fine in May, there's a good...
It's metacam, if I remember correctly. They're pills that the vet broke up for me into 1/4 pieces I think.
Percy did get much worse after 10 days of SMZ antibiotics so I stopped it then. However, he was completely better after 14 days SMZ last year. I guess it could be different types of...
I did mean to ask how quickly you think oxine takes affect? I have one duck who isn't eating much and I'm hoping it can be a quick cure for her. She got a respiratory infection last winter/spring, quit eating, but was fine after a course of SMZ. It's clearly this infection rearing it's head...
No I haven't done the oxine with him yet, between his weird triggers and having a hard time taking care of other pets without him choking while I'm gone... anything I do with him has to be during one of his good periods, but then during his good periods I hate to wake him up when he seems so...
Yeah, I'm going to call the vets today and have my dad pick up the anti inflammatories (since I'm not able to leave him at all). I just hope I don't cause him to choke, but he's choking on water, food, and apparently nothing anyways and it can't keep on like this, so...I'm hoping it will only...
He's still hanging in there :) I think he might actually be gaining weight, his poop is still good and his favorite pastimes are still mating his girlfriend, my legs, and being a bully to my 4 month old drake lol.
Still trying to figure out exactly how to treat him tho. Hopefully the oxine...
My Oxine finally arrived! These measurements are for the nebulizer treatment, right?
Do you also do it orally (either put it in drinking water or syringe down them), or is doing both nebulizer and oral at the same time too much?
Well not long after I said that I could stop his episodes, I stopped being able to. They've gone from bad to worse.
About an hour ago he almost died, he went cold and limp and I couldn't feel him taking breaths, but I was able to bring him back. He was breathing for several minutes after that...
Thanks for all of y'alls help so far! The Oxine arrives tomorrow and currently I'm giving silver (via syringe) to him and 2 of his friends as well. One of them is definitely sick and the other seems like she is.
I've discovered that I can stop his episodes before they really get going by...
@New duck mommy 2021 Ok great, I bought the one on Amazon which is arriving tomorrow
And I also bought one locally today that's 30 ppm. So that I can start medicating him today.
Do I give up to 1 ml per day if I'm using 30 ppm silver?
So with the Oxine AH, what do you use as a vaporizer? I'm not sure what that means. Can a spray bottle be used to mist him with it?
Is it safe around healthy ducks?
Do you put it in drinking water too, if the duck is sick? What about if healthy ducks are drinking the water too?
I just realized, the vet gave me SMZ pills for him last year but I'm using liquid right now. I wonder if the pills were better, or maybe they prescribed a higher dose?
It's just weird that the antibiotics haven't worked when they did last year. He's showing the same symptoms.
He's back to...
Thanks, I'm checking out the links! Can you do the Oxine AH treatments without a very good setup for it? I know you want to make a "tent" ideally to ensure it's inhaled well. It's a real problem that treatment options are limited with him because of how severe his episodes are and that anything...
Sorry, this a bit long because it's an odd case and I'm really stuck. I have a 10 year old muscovy, he's imprinted on me and a houseduck. He's got an abnormal throat. The vet says there's too much tissue in his throat. This was spotted 2 years ago when he had a bacterial and fungal throat...
