Yes, I was wondering about how to protect the connection between the coop and the run. Hardware cloth is the perfect solution. I am thinking for elevating the coop off the ground, to make cleaning easy. What do you think?

Thank you for the helpful advice. Yes, I plan on putting the run as close to the tree as possible and then attaching the coop to the run from the outside. I happen to be working with a welder that will create the opening in the run and connect the coop. The run is heavy but staking it down is a...

Thank you for sharing your expertise. I had considered making a roof out of wood for the run. But now that you mention it, hardware cloth sounds like the perfect material. I had considered chicken wire but considered it too flimsy for predators.

Good to know that there is hope for Pearl. To be left behind like that and survive. She deserves a home where she is well cared for and appreciated. I hope my hen is like your rooster. I am learning so much. What a supportive community.

Thank you for the warm welcome and sharing your expertise. I will double check and make sure her treats are no more than 10% of her diet. Being able to hold her is to have a way to take her to the vet or give her medication. But yes, I want to know how silky her feathers are. For the time...

Thank you for replying to my post. I do happen to call her pretty Pearl every day because she is. Good to know that you came upon chickenship like I have. I will be mindful of keeping treats to 10% so that she eats her special feed. I did a lot of research for the run too and eventually found a...

Pearl is such a tree hugger. It drives me crazy that she does not have a safe place to sleep. There are possums in our neighborhood. Scary! Once time I did confine her in her coop for 30 min and she freaked out but did eat some treats I put inside. I was trying to desensitize her. I really...

Your chickens are elegantly beautiful! What is the name of your Dutch bantam? You have shared so many pearls of wisdom. Yes, pun intended. Ive been patient with her and slowly she has been spending more time with me. In the morning she sits by my window and cackles to get my attention for her...
